COMPETENCY ONE

DETERMINATION

I ‘ve shown determination through a task of sending out several hundred letters and flyers to prospective customers for a new product the company had been trying to promote . The letters had to be sent within a couple days , and the printers in the office chose that day to stop working . I immediately took the s to a copying company , and stayed late till they were finished . Then I began the collation and envelope-stuffing process . COMPETENCY TWO

USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

I have been in charge of drafting letters and editing documents in Microsoft Word . I have also stored information concerning research surveys in Microsoft Excel and used this program to generate percentages , etc . I have also used Internet Explorer in researching methods of analysing data and also (under direct supervision ) for everyday company-related things , like getting information to help the company remain competitive . I also have experience with specialised data entry programs (like Goldmine ) to store data about the clients and their preferences . In addition , I use Microsoft Outlook daily for memos for keeping in touch with other administrative assistants

COMPETENCY THREE

GATHER AND MANAGE INFORMATION

I have helped gather /manage information through conducting a survey for my former company . The information was a combination of quantitative and qualitative data . The strategy was to use questionnaires to generate numbers and then gather more detailed data through personal or phone interviews . To sort and store this information , I transcribed the interviews in a Word document and tallied the numbers for the questionnaire , placing them in Excel . Using a combination of counting important words (for interviews ) and categorising persons according to their place in the numerical spread , I got the information into a more ly and usable form

FOLLOWS PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES

It was often necessary for me to take documents from one level of authority to the next . It is considered a waste of certain higher-level managers ‘ valuable time to require them to view things that could be taken care of by a person with lower credentials . It was my job not only to know who should receive what types of documents , but also to know which persons would need to co-sign or co-validate documents .
