The main element in the definitions mentioned above is the existence of something shared or common . It could be a shared belief , culture practice or any interest that is carried by the individual members in common . It is by the strength of this common interest that the group continues to exist as such

Merriam-Webster (2006 ) defines the word aggregate as formed by the collection of units or particles into a body , mass , or amount

It was Oxford (2006 ) that defined the word aggregate most clearly noun a whole formed by combining several different elements adjective formed or calculated by the combination of many separate items verb combine into a whole

The definitions above simply show that the members or components of an aggregate are brought together or united ‘ or collected . It is this simple act of bringing together that creates an aggregate . The use of the words separate ‘ and different ‘ lay emphasis on the fact that an aggregate is a combination of uncommon elements
