Health care in the United States is at a turning point . The major consulting groups , the mass media and health care experts all express similar findings- health care costs are a critical and a significant concern for the health authorities . Like the rest of the world , America is an ageing society and researches show that between 2000 and 2050 , the number of older people is expected to increase by [banner_entry_middle]

Over this time period , the proportion of the population that is over the age of 65 will increase from 12 .7 in 2000 to 20 .3 in 2050 while the proportion of the population that is 85 years or older will increase from 1 .6 to 4 .8 in 2050

This will examine the financial burden on the federal and state agencies in relation to providing Medicare and Medicare to its citizens It will also reflect on the financial crisis the taxpayers and the government is likely to face in the future in relation to the rising cost of health care services

But many critics believe that in the 21st century , United States being the richest and the most powerful nation is not providing government controlled Universal Health Insurance (UHI ) which the other industrialized nations have enjoyed for decades . There are not many people who are happy with the Medicaid today
