The problem of AIDS / HIV is one of the most dangerous problems ever occurred in Africa continent , and in Nigeria . Statistical surveys state that HIV /AIDS population in Nigeria varies from 2 ,600 .000 to 3 ,300 ,000 adults , and 240 ,000 children . The primary groups affected by HIV /AIDS – injecting drug users , commercial sex workers , and inmates . In Nigeria women are getting HIV infection at a younger age than men all over the world , in line with socio-sexual norms (1 ,900 ,000 or 57 of the [banner_entry_middle]

population . In 2003 , 220 ,000 people died because of AIDS (HIV and AIDS in Nigeria , 2006 Nigeria , 2006 . Younger mothers age 20 to 30 years were most likely to be seropositive , while rates among unmarried women in this age group were higher still

The main questions are : How sexual orientation and gender identity influence HIV /AIDS prevalence ? What are the main behavior patterns of people with HIV /AIDS ? What is the attitude towards people with HIV /AIDS Do people with HIV /AIDS suffer from social and psychological problems What problems prevail ? Also , some important issues include : reproductive rights of HIV /AIDS women women ‘s perceptions of seropositive testing and their psychological response experiences of medical staff working with HIV /AIDS patients , family relations between people with HIV /AIDS etc

The solutions to the problem of HIV /AIDS should be based on clearly articulated goals against sexual workers and family violence in Nigeria To eliminate the problem of HIV /AIDS , it is crucial to change social and psychological behavior patterns such as multiple-partner sexual relationships and prostitution . It is important to tackle racialist constructions of African sexuality including sexual relations at young age and heterosexual relations . Surveillance , a basis for effective programs – is weak in most African countries . Prevention programs for high-risk groups are also weak or too small . To tackle the problem , it is important to introduce psychological and social programs for the entire population aimed to educate people about HIV /AIDS and preventive measures , and help them to overcome stress and nervous breakdown caused by positive testing or constant tension to be infected . In general efforts have begun at changing the political and societal landscape , and community infrastructure
